#ThursdayTherapyTune… The Ding-a-Ling Song featuring the Triangle

The song of the day is “My Ding-a-Ling” as performed most famously by Chuck Berry. If you have heard this Oldie Goldie, you may have thought to yourself “I would be the worst therapist in the world to teach this to children!” I know that was my first thought as I listened to the ridiculous lyrics. However, with a little tweaking of the words I have turned this classic into my go-to song for using the Triangle. One of my favorite aspects of this song is actually the repeated use of the word “Ding-a-Ling” because it represents the sound of the triangle, as well as encourages speech sounds including D, L and G (though L is the targeted sound I usually focus on). I have provided a youtube link for the original song if you haven’t heard it before. The melody is very easy and it’s only 3 chords so it’s super easy to play as well. Below I have provided the adapted lyrics that I use for your convenience too! And if you need some triangle inspiration check out the post from earlier this week! Happy Thursday!

“The Ding-A-Ling” adapted from the original song “My Ding-A-Ling”

It’s time to sing a little song                                                                                                             I promise that it won’t take long                                                                                              Hold that triangle by the string                                                                                                  And let me hear that ding a ling-a-ling

(Ding) ding a ling, (Ding) ding a ling                                                                                   I want to hear the (Ding) ding a ling                                                                       (Ding) ding a ling, (Ding) ding a ling                                                                                   I want to hear the (Ding) ding a ling

That triangle sounds so great                                                                                                           I just love the way you play                                                                                                       Hold that triangle by the string                                                                                                  And let me hear that ding a ling-a-ling….CHORUS

One more time wontcha play with me                                                                                       You would make me so happy                                                                                                   Hold that triangle by the string                                                                                                  And let me hear that ding a ling-a-ling….CHORUS
